It has always been a dream of mine to build an outdoor heated birdroom and after much research and planning my dream came true in September 2006. I decided that an 8'x12' room would best suit me and my birds. Natural light was an important factor therefore I have four windows in my room, two on the front and a window on each side. I also light my birdoom with two full-spectrum fluorescent lights on a timer. The floor is concrete with a drain and the walls are FRP plastic, making the whole room very easy to clean. The door is on the front of the room so that when you walk in, the breeding cages are on the back wall. I have a 3000 W electric heater with fan thermostat for heat and I have installed an agricultural quality exhaust fan to provide air circulation in the room. The installation of a laundry tub enables me to clean my breeding units right in the aviary. I’m thrilled with my aviary and my flock loves it too!
