Max is my hand-fed White Capped Pionus. He was born on March 20th, 2007 and came home to live with me on October 13th when he was fully weaned. I visited Max and his wonderful breeder Darlene every two weeks for several weeks and this really helped the bonding process and made the transition home less stressful for him. Max is a very sweet and lovable bird. He is very active and loves to play with his toys, especially Popsicle sticks. He is on a two stick a day habit!! He has many different toys in his cage to keep him busy while I’m at work. When I get home he enjoys hanging out with me while I watch TV and eat dinner. Some of his favorite foods are apples, cranberries, pasta (cooked and raw) and cauliflower. He loves spending time hanging by one foot upside down playing on his Java Tree Play Stand. He likes to say hello when I walk into the room, he then puts his foot up asking to come out. He has now gone through adult molt and is very handsome, and has a vocabulary of 25 words.
Max has accompanied me to the Canadian Parrot Conference and has attended several bird club meetings. Max is a wonderful bird, a great companion, and continues to be a real snuggle bug.
